Dear Parents/Carers

A very warm welcome back to the new school year and especially to the families of our new students.

It has been very exciting for both staff and students seeing everyone in school today, lots of energy has been used up so we hope that consequently everyone has a good night’s sleep!

We will begin to follow the new school timetable from Monday and class teams will update you on how your young person is settling in via the Home School diary, telephone calls and emails as appropriate. Maintaining close contact with parents/carers and sharing information is key to optimising progress for all students so please feel free to communicate regularly with us in whichever way works best for you.

Please also be reassured that we are doing everything possible to remain as Covid secure as possible. The majority of staff and a growing number of older students are double vaccinated. Staff are carrying out Lateral Flow Tests twice a week, an enhanced cleaning regime continues throughout the school day, rooms are well ventilated, students are supported to wash their hands regularly and staff are mindful to maintain social distancing whenever possible. PPE arrangements continue with all staff required to wear face masks for all interactions with students and aprons and surgical gloves are worn when appropriate. St Ann’s excellent nursing team continues to monitor the health of all of our students and if there are any concerns we would of course be in immediate contact with you.

During the first few weeks of term we are continuing to limit the number of visitors on site whilst we monitor the national and local picture of Covid transmission but once the situation eases we look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in person again. We are planning to hold our Autumn term Open Evening on Thursday 30th September from 5pm and we will forward more details about this nearer the time.

In the meantime please remember that St Ann’s large multidisciplinary team will do everything possible to support your young person so that together we can achieve the best possible outcomes. We greatly appreciate your knowledge, support and feedback during this process and we’re all looking forward to a very successful and productive year ahead.

Yours sincerely
