Child Protection part 2

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility

All staff have a role to play in safeguarding. Everyone needs to be alert and report  concerns, and everyone should always act in the best interests of the child. Staff  should follow the school child protection Policy.

The schools Designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) are:

Gillian Carver (Lead)                                                        Mary Kelly (Deputy)

Everyone has a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn. All staff are in a position to identify concerns about a child early,  make sure they get the help they need, and help to prevent their situation from  getting worse.
(This is known as ‘early help’).
In exceptional circumstances, the DSL (or a deputy) isn’t available, e.g. if they’re on a  trip or off sick, staff should speak to a member of the senior leadership team (SLT) and  John Lyons School Social Worker.
