Year 7 Catch Up Premium Grant 2016/2017
During the academic Year 2016/2017 the Year 7 Catch Up Premium Grant is being used to buy in additional Speech and Language Therapy to meet the communication needs of 12 Year 7 students who enrolled at St Ann’s in September 2016. The value of the Year 7 Catch Up Premium Grant is therefore £5,538 (£461.50 per pupil).
Following the new SEND Code of Practice, from September 2016 the NHS is only responsible for providing Speech and Language Therapy to meet individual student’s dysphagia needs (eating, drinking and swallowing). St Ann’s is therefore for the first time, employing a Band 7 independent Speech and Language therapist (0.3fte) and a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist (full time) to maximise the ability of all students to communicate effectively.
This is particularly important for Year 7 students as they transition into their secondary phase of education.
The Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist has been observing Year 7 students in class, researching all available information as to their communication needs, ensuring that their communication passports are available to class teams and liaising closely with their class teachers to ensure the setting of appropriate personalised communication targets (MAPP Learning Intentions).
