Dear Colleagues
The current general advice to educational settings during the COVID-19 pandemic is that staff do not require personal protective equipment (PPE).
However at St Ann’s given the very complex needs of our young people, effective infection control is a key part of our daily practice and we routinely have PPE equipment in stock including disposable aprons, gloves and surgical masks.
Public Health England has issued an excellent video and posters regarding the use of PPE in clinical settings where patients may have, or be suspected of having, Coronavirus. Although St Ann’s is not in this category of need, much of this information is pertinent particularly the correct techniques for putting on and the taking off aprons, gloves and surgical masks.
Please note that it is your individual responsibility to watch the Public Health England (PPE) Video. This is an essential part of training for all staff and will help to better protect the health and safety of St Ann’s staff and students. Further training and updates on PPE will be provided in school.
It is also useful to note that the DfE is publishing additional advice for settings caring for children and young people with complex needs, later this week.
Kind regards
Gillian
