I have two disabled daughters, Sarah, at St Ann’s; and Munira, currently at Mandeville and likely to need St Ann’s in the future. Hence, as a parent, I understand the needs of children at St Ann’s, and their families. I am also a full-time NHS Consultant (specialty Gastroenterology/Liver Disease), at St Mary’s Hospital in West London. There is much reconfiguration happening with NHS services in our area, which may impact the healthcare provisions of special needs children.
I believe I am well placed to understand the health needs of the children during these turbulent times. There are several reasons why I volunteered to be a Parent Governor at St Ann’s. I wanted develop a greater understanding how the school works, to learn about the challenges it faces and to see if I could contribute, in any way, to helping face these challenges.
